Chapi, Ruperto

Ruperto Chapi(1851-1909), Spanish composer, studied at the Madrid Conservatory; in 1870 he played cornet in a theater orchestra; in 1871 became conductor of a military band. In 1874 he won a three-year scholarship at the Spanish Academy, and continued to study in Rome. He composed more than 100 zarzuelas.
