Casals, Pablo

Pablo Casals(1876-1973), Spanish cellist, composer and conductor, studied cello at Barcelona's Escuela Municipal de Music, and composition at the Madrid Conservatory and Brussels Conservatory. He was one of the virtuoso cellist of his time, in 1899 he launched tours of US, South America and Russia as a virtuoso cellist. He conducted annual festivals bearing his name beginning 1957.
