Carrillo, Julian

Julian Carrillo(1875-1965), Mexican composer, conductor, violinist and music theorist, studied at the National Conservatory of Mexico City, then went to Leipzig to study at the Leipzig Royal Conservatory, also studied at the Ghent Conservatory. Returned to Mexico and conducted the National Symphony Orchestra and served as professor and principle of the National Conservatory in Mexico City. From 1914 he lived in New York, where he helped to found the American Symphony Orchestra. He composer operas, symphonies, violin concerto, and chamber music.
